Welcoming James Walker

We’re happy to welcome aboard James Walker (@walkah) as the new Lead Software Developer at Fuzzy.io. James is probably best known for his work on Drupal; he was a core contributor on the project for many years. He was the co-founder of Bryght, one of the first companies to offer Drupal in the cloud. He later was Lullabot‘s Director of Education, where he gave great in-person training, spoke at conferences, and built a well-known series of educational videos.

James is also well know for his work with open web standards, including implementations of OpenID and OAuth. James was the Senior Services Architect at StatusNet, where he developed the OStatus protocol for federated social networking.

At Fuzzy.io, he’ll be leading the effort to build and scale our API and developer environment. We expect continued exceptional work.

Support Fuzzy.io at 500 Startups Demo Day

Dear friends: I have a favour to ask you.

Tomorrow I (Evan) will be going on stage at the 500 Startups Demo Day. It’s a big event where all of the startups in my batch pitch hundreds of investors to get them interested in our product.

The event will be live streamed at http://500demoday.co/ so you can watch me pitch. My group of companies will be on between 2:30PM and 3:30PM PDT, so that’s about 5:30 and 6:30 EDT.

Here’s what I need: please help make my talk look like a big deal on social media! When I’m on stage, I need people to tweet, Facebook, pump, or whatever. Some good hashtags to use are #fuzzyio and #500strong and #b14.

I’ll be posting a (probably very nervous) selfie here and on other platforms when I’m about to go on to remind you.

Thanks a lot for all the help so far, and please wish me luck tomorrow!

Welcoming Kevin Fox as our Chief Experience Officer

Kevin Fox has joined the Fuzzy.io team as Chief Experience Officer (CXO). Kevin is a veteran user experience designer. At Google, he designed Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Reader. He’s also led design at early stage startups including Friendfeed and Electric Imp, and bigger companies including Yahoo and Facebook.

Our goal for fuzzy.io is to make all software smarter by making machine intelligence accessible to regular developers. We know that user experience is crucial to this goal, so we’re especially excited to have Kevin joining us in this crucial role.

On a personal note, I (Evan) am glad to have the chance to work with a friend for the first time in 17 years. Kevin and I worked closely together on Segasoft’s pioneering Heat.net game community when the Web was very young. It’s great to find out that he’s still a lot of fun to work with.

Kevin is now working with the rest of our team out of the San Francisco offices of 500 Startups.

You can read more about Kevin joining our team at TechVibes.
